The Auto Rickshaw

Thirty minutes in an auto with a driver who sang the whole way. Outside was serious and functional — inside, there were emotions in play.

Ethnography, condensed

Shadow, don't survey. Field notes in three lines, synthesised the same day — how I compress weeks of research into decisions a team can act on.

The grid is a conversation

The Auto Rickshaw

Thirty minutes to a repair shop, no music on — just watching.

The view from the back seat of an auto rickshaw, looking forward past the driver
Post / body

Today I took a 30-minute auto ride to a repair shop and volunteered myself to not listen to any music, just observe.

To my surprise I got this peculiar yet entertaining driver. He was about 25 or so, with a very rushing, chaotic kind of vibe, but not anxious at all. The funny part was he started singing songs aloud. I didn’t know how to feel about it at first, but I loved how he was enjoying himself. In between the singing he called some relative, telling them that this time he will be coming home for Eid, and then went right back to his singing routine.

Everything outside the auto seemed very serious and functional, but inside there were emotions in play.

I didn’t ask him many questions even though I wanted to compliment him, but I choked, I don’t know why. Maybe he was in an escape, or maybe he was just free from a lot of things. My head kept trying to find a reason for him to be this free and self-enjoying, which also made me notice my own unconscious disbelief that someone in this profession at such an age could be this carefree. Maybe I was even a bit jealous.

I wonder, if I designed his portfolio website, what would it look like.

Interaction / Brand Designer

Dinners with Nat Geo and Discovery sparked my curiosity for people — how they think, act, and interact. Design became my way to turn that curiosity into something meaningful. I craft experiences grounded in real human insight, building brands, leading UX research, and designing interfaces that feel effortless yet intentional, always with a strong sense of soul.

The challenge is not the absence of communication. It is the absence of clarity.
Problem framing
01 Context

Ideosphere is a 15-year-old insight-driven, message-first communication agency that simplifies business complexities through compelling narratives.

The brand had outgrown its visual and verbal identity. Fifteen years of evolution — from an exploratory "teenager" to a mature strategic partner — weren't reflected anywhere in how it presented itself. Social traction had been flat, and discovery meetings surfaced a gap between what the team knew itself to be and what the identity communicated.

02 Process

I adopted the organisation's own approach

Discover, create, express — the framework Ideosphere uses on client work, turned back on itself.

Discover
Find alignmentSurface the brand's point of view from every angle and locate where the narratives agree.
Create
Build the narrativeShape a brand narrative and personality that aligns with the truth already in the room.
Express
Translate itCarry it into a manifesto, corporate deck, social system, and website assets.
03 Discover

Everyone had a story. Nobody had the same one.

I ran open-ended interviews with the leadership to understand Ideosphere's history, its evolution, and how its perceived personality showed up across touchpoints — website, corporate deck, manifesto, social. The goal was to find the pattern underneath five different versions of the same brand.

Ideosphere is a custodian to brands.

04 Create

From verbatims to a personality

The interviews became a word cloud — the raw material for archetype and positioning work, while secondary research into the competitive landscape shaped the initial tone-of-voice strategy.

Messaging is infrastructure, not decoration

That belief drove every downstream decision. The identity had to behave like structure — a grid that holds content up rather than graphics that shout over it.
